Land development consultants Millar Merrigan, commissioned Studio Constantine with the task of refreshing their core communications materials. Working within existing brand guideline and logotype, we looked at the function of the suite and assessed how they might work more efficiently.
Studio Constantine were keen to free up usable real estate from a previous treatment that was ink and space hungry. We opened out the design to let the structure of the content area define the scale and distribution of elements. A simple asymmetrical hanging alignment referenced the logotype and defined the right hand page margin on the letterhead. In order to broaden the expression of the Millar Merrigan brand, we used the compliment slips as a vehicle to highlight the secondary brand colour palette. Functionally, this adds a range of formality, context and differentiation for Millar Merrigan when liaising with a diverse client base.
Across the suite, Studio Constantine introduced a new uncoated, toothier paper stock; we were keen on increasing the tactility of the correspondence, making it feel weightier in the hand and stepping away from the arbitrary corporate letter.
The outcome was a cleaner, more usable communications suite. Not only retaining existing visual equity, but adding breadth to the brand expression. Whilst the number and variety of components increased, intelligent use of one and two-colour printing kept costs the same.
